Wes stayed home with Abi for the day, because he is a champ. She had been up several times last night and I was at the end of my rope. My parents, Andrew, and I went up to Loveland Ski area. Mom and I took lessons.
All my Colorado friends are much better skiers than I am, but for me it was wonderful to really start nailing parallel turns, feeling my edges, letting my skis work for me, and getting comfortable in steeper terrain. That was HUGE. My instructor was tough on us (he threatened to take my poles several times and yelled a lot) but also very helpful.
After lunch, I skied two runs with Andrew since we’re about the same level. Same skill level, except he is not afraid of anything. We went in some bowls and I managed to get a ski stuck in a big pile o’ snow while turning. I went down HARD and twisted my knee. I think it’s going to be okay, but man o man does it hurt! After that, I wanted out of the bowls. The fastest way out was a big old black diamond mogul field. To say we skied it would be a bit of a stretch, but we did manage to get out without walking.
It was a fun day and a great way to wrap up a wonderful weekend with my family. I hope they enjoyed their visit as much as we did.
